Abstract
Tinnitus Cure Information
Did you know that more that 36 million Americans have been diagnosed as
suffering from ear ringing, or Tinnitus as it is called. The severity
of the noises in the ear or ears varies greatly. It can be an
occasional ringing in the ears, which could be almost anything from ear
ringing to a whine, a screech, a humming, or a pulsing, and many
variations between. It can be just in one ear, or both, or sometimes it
may alternate between the ears. This of course can have a massive
effect on the sufferers daily life.
There are many causes of Tinnitus or ear ringing. We all suffer from
ear ringing at some point, ever been to a concert and when you leave
you have noticed the noise in your ears? So what are some of the causes
of Tinnitus? Well it could be something as simple as a plug of wax in
your ear, which of course is a temporary situation. Don't go poking
around in your ear, you could very easily damage your delicate hearing
mechanism. It can also be caused by some over-the-counter medications,
as well as medications obtained from your doctor. Medications such as
anti-inflmmatories, antibiotics, sedatives, antidepressants or even
aspirin. If you suspect that the medication that you are taking has
caused the ear ringing then visit your doctor straight away. It could
be as simple as altering the dose of your medicine or switching to a
new one. There have been reports of people with circulation problems
suffering from ear ringing, such as high or low blood pressure. Blood
pressure medication has been known to cause ear ringing as well, as we
said if you suspect this then visit your doctor for a check up. Other
causes may be things like allergies, a tumor, diabetes or problems with
the thyroid.
Constant loud noise can cause damage to the microscopic endings of the
inner ear. How many times have parents told there children that their
ipods were too loud, and that they will damage their hearing, well of
course they are absolutely right. And then of course there are those
that work in extremely noisy situations. I well remember visiting an
engine room of a tanker, the noise was so much that my ears hurt and
for quite a while after, when I left I felt as if I were in a bubble.
Ear defenders must be worn at all times in these noisy places or
permanent damage can be done to your hearing.
If you sustain a head or neck injury you could suffer from Tinnitus,
which could be temporary or become permanent, depending on how much
damage has been done. And of course, as we get older the body does not
repair itself as well as it used to and Tinnitus can appear at this
point in your life.
So what can you do if you have Tinnitus?
It really depends on the cause of your ear ringing, and your first
course of action should be to visit your doctor and get a full medical
check-up, to either identify or rule out such things as blood pressure,
cholesterol levels, or current medication that you are taking.
Unfortunately in the majority of cases the cause can't be identified,
even after exhaustive tests such as ex-rays and laboratory tests. In
these cases you will have to learn to live with the ear ringing. There
are a few things that you can do to help yourself in this case such as
increasing your exercise in order to improve you circulation, or having
some background noise on such as a pleasant piece of music or wave
sounds. This can also help you to get to sleep as it is when the
surroundings are quiet that Tinnitus can be at it's worst, there is
nothing else to listen to. Reduce or stop any stimulants that you use
such as tobacco, coffee, tea, cola. Also cut out or reduce your salt
intake, this effects your blood circulation.
When your health professional says he can't do anything for you, then
try Complimentary therapies, in a percentage of cases these therapies
have had successes when all other efforts have failed.
